A simple NOTD today. This has the distinction of being the only manicure of mine that a 70 year old man has complimented 🙂 Unfortunately since it was so simple, I wasn’t too impressed by it until I recevied compliments on it, but by then it was all chipped and nasty. So only one picture of the completed manicure for you, I’m afraid.

It’s just one coat of China Glaze Cracked Medallion over 3 coats of  W7 Envy, with Seche Vite over each colour. I waited a day between the two, since crackle seem to give wider cracks when it can’t stick to your base layer so much and “curdles” more..

W7, an English brand, was on sale at Chemist Warehouse at $5 for two 15 mL polishes, and Envy is a gorgeous teal shimmer I had unsuccessfully tried to franken in the past (the colour was right but it was the streakiest frost I’d ever dealt with!) So I grabbed it straight away!

My friend was actually on the lookout for a metallic teal, and when I told her about the sale, she bought two bottles of Envy. It’s a really beautiful peacock colour.

The copper and teal combination makes me think of turquoise (which interestingly has the chemical formula CuAl6(PO4)4(OH)8.4 H2O), or the verdigris on old bronze urns.

I have to say, I’m a big fan of crackles – they’re so good for reviving manicures that you’re getting sick of but aren’t peeling yet, and they’re so quick to apply. I’m going to try frankening some crackles from regular polishes soon, watch this space!
