After August's excellent box, I was really looking forward to seeing if the September box would measure up... here's what's in it:
The Vintage Cosmetic Company Floral Slanted Tweezers - I actually just lost all my tweezers bar one pair of Tweezermans - I have a feeling that the boyfriend took them for his monobrow. He likes to pretend he isn't vain, but he is. These are not quite as good as Tweezermans at getting the tiny hairs. With brand new Tweezermans, it's a "if you can see it, you can pluck it" deal with my eyesight. These don't quite get the tiny ones, but they're pretty good, and there's no way the boyfriend will steal something this floral.
The Vintage Cosmetic Company Emery Board - Another handy tool I've been meaning to buy, score!
NS-5 Cuticle and Nail Complex - This is a petrochemical-free, "natural active" based cuticle cream that claims to help with splitting nails and hangnails. It's got keratin, silicea and vitamin B5, which are common in oral nail supplements, but I doubt there's any proper research on whether they work when you rub them on your nails. It contains lots of good moisturising ingredients (castor oil, glycerin, shea butter etc.) that will definitely help with moisturisation though. My sister snapped this up!
Sinful Colors Nail Polish - It may surprise you to know that I love nail polish! The photo on the insert card shows lots of pinkish shades which would be easy to wear for nuggles. I received a magnificent summery coral shade, Timbleberry, but I already own about 10 identical corals so this will probably go into the swap pile.
Eleven Australia Miracle Hair Treatment - This is a leave-in treatment that smells of coconut and promises 11 benefits to your hair. My main complaint is that the 6 mL sample tube is TEENY. I doubt it'll cover half my hair!
Timeless Truth Stem Cell Extract Mask - I don't really believe non-human stem cell matter will do anything for my face, but the other active ingredients (idebenone, palmitoyl pentapeptide-3, vitamins A and E) might. It's a cloth mask, which is my favourite type (super quick and mess-free), so it'll probably come in handy regardless.
The box also came with a gift-with-purchase offer from Swissdent whitening toothpaste. I personally never get around to using these vouchers.
Verdict: This is another excellent selection by Violet Box - if I wasn't a nail fanatic already, I'd use almost everything in the box myself. I particularly liked the tools in the box, and wish more beauty boxes would include handy tools and accessories. I'm very impressed with Violet Box's good streak - let's see if October's will also live up to the hype!
