This week we're painting our nails in a colour we usually hate. My most
feared nail colour is pink, but since I've actually been wearing a bit
of pink lately, I went with more of a finish than a colour - bright,
And what better to try it with than actual foil, instead of just a foil polish? This foil was sent to me by Born Pretty for review, and while I love the look of it in my photos, it was just a bit too much for me on my nails. I did get a lot of compliments on this mani though, so I'm definitely in the minority.
The base is actually a colour I love, but not one I wear often - orange (Essence I'm So Very), topped with another favourite, brown (Orly So Go Diva). I love brown, and Orly's newest Australian releases include two brownish glitters, hurray! (swatches coming later this week).
I was hoping that the gold foil applied in an abstract pattern on the tips would look like flames, but I think it just looks like distressed foil. It was very easy to apply - the foil is super thin and sits down very flat on the nail. I simply painted a thin coat of top coat on the tips, pressed bits of foil down on it, then added more top coat.
Despite my dislike of this design, I'm not giving up on the foil yet - I'm determined to make it work for me! Luckily this foil set comes with 6 jars each of gold and silver, and this mani barely made a dent in one gold jar (it's the tub in the photo - the silver is unopened).
Do you have any suggestions for what I can try with the foil? Let me know below!
