Peach/gold blush showdown: Benefit vs Face of Australia vs BYS swatches and review

It annoys me that Princess Peach wears pink and no peach. Yeah. Burn, Nintendo!

Anyway, here are four peach blushes with gold-hued shimmer that I've been trying out lately. It's the combo in the infamous, flattering-on-most-people NARS Orgasm blush. The four that will do battle today (Super Smash Bros style heh) are Face of Australia O Peachy!, Benefit CORALista, BYS Coral and Face of Australia Angel Flame.

Face of Australia O Peachy! - RRP $9.95 for 5 g

This is quite pigmented, with lots of very gold shimmer particles in both chunky (microglitter size) and subtle varieties. It's pinker than the rest of the colours, which is quite flattering on me. Unfortunately, the gold shimmer particles are just too big for me to wear regularly, but this would be a great evening party blush for those who can pull it off.

Benefit CORALista - RRP $51 for 12 g (mine came with the Go Tropicoral! lip and cheek kit, reviewed here)

Soft and creamy to apply, with a very subtle gold sheen that almost comes off as pearlescent. It's not too pigmented, so a heavy hand is required. It smells faintly of peaches, which is awesome. More things should smell good.

BYS Coral - RRP $4 for 5 g

I've always been super sceptical about BYS products, although I'm known to grab a bunch when I need a cheap fix. This one, however, came on Lilit's recommendation, and since she knows her blush, I took the (extremely wallet-friendly) plunge and grabbed this from the Reject Shop when I went there to replenish my Mamee Noodle supply (it's a problem. Don't judge me). Super pigmented, more orange than the other offerings, again quite pearlescent shimmer, .

Face of Australia Angel Flame - RRP $14.95 for 50 mL

This is a tinted illuminator, with less pink/peach pigmentation but lots of shimmer. There are some larger particles in there too. This applies beautifully for a liquid product, and is very easily blended.

Overall winner - BYS Coral. The cheapest one, surprisingly! The pigmentation is amazing, and it's a surprisingly plush-feeling product for a cheapie. I'd prefer it a bit pinker though, more like O Peachy!. Layering Angel Flame on top gives a great night.time look, with a bit more "glow".

Face of Australia and Benefit products were  provided for consideration, which did not affect my opinion. For more information, see Disclosure Policy.

  1. I have both the FOA products you mentioned- I really enjoy them both. I haven't given the illuminator any love in a while. Thanks for the reminder! I must check out that BYS blush... I don't mind peaches more on the orange side than the pink. Sounds good.

    1. How do you find the shimmer particles in the FoAs? They're a tad too chunky for me, but they'd be perfect if they were just a tiny bit finer! Especially since they're pinker.
