As you might have gathered from an earlier post, I like organisation. But I like it My Way. That's why I've never managed to buy a personal planner and stick with it - the ones that are a nice size have ugly covers, the ones with nice covers have bad layouts, the ones with good layouts are too heavy... at the moment, I actually format my own planner on Word, print it out and stick it into a notebook.
That's why I was really excited when I found out about Personal Planner - you get to put together your own planner, kind of like those "put your kid's name inside a book" books that you get by mail order (I had a great one about dinosaurs). You can:
- design the front and back covers (plain with text, funky pre-fab design or upload your own image)
- pick what goes on each page (columns? to-do lists? gym workouts?).
- add friends' birthdays straight from Facebook
- pick the start date
There are 4 different sizes available, and have elastic enclosures (you pick the colour of course), which I'm really appreciating at the moment - you can jam all sorts of scraps of paper in there and they have no choice but to stay!
To find out more, you can visit Personal Planner's website or Facebook page.

ReplyDeleteAs for an organisational tip, ummm - if you haven't touched something in a year, ask yourself if you really need to keep it. I've cleared out lots of junk using this tip and the less stuff you have, the easier it is to be organised and tidy
Currently I've been loving the budgeting software I'm using. It helps me to stay completely organized and on top of money matters.
ReplyDeleteThis company contacted me lol. So funny how they do the rounds! These planners look pretty cool though.
ReplyDeleteUm, I don't know if it's really a tip, but it helps me and my very non-organized Hubby. There's a drawer that is 'his' in the kitchen. He drops his keys wallet, and all the receipts and papers from the day in there. Every couple of days I get into it and throw away receipts I don't need, and file away the ones that I do, as well as any papers. Keeps us from having big blow out fights!

I confess to being a list-maker: shopping lists, to-do lists, lemming lists, whatever. I even have my nail polish stash in a Google docs spreadsheet (accessible on my phone), to minimize accidental dupe-buying. :P Works for me!

I love these diaries!
ReplyDeleteI am a massive list maker- not to say I actually do what I list- but I like lists. That's my tip.

Why is all the cool stuff in Australia?! WHY?!
ReplyDeleteLists, lists, and more lists, combined with my habit of writing EVERYTHING down is how I stay organised. If I write it down, it sticks in my head, and when I have ten different people asking me for things, keeping track of them all is crucial.
ReplyDeleteI really like making excel sheets to keep me in check of what I have to do. I've made some for gym workouts, budgets, and just other things I have to keep track of. It's really helpful.

I have a couple of tips. I use 'compartments' under my bathroom sink, like baskets. I organise them into different categories like hair products, hair removal, sunscreen/insect repellant and so on. It really helps with time management too.
ReplyDeleteI also like to organise my clothes in my drawers. My PJ drawer is in 4 categories, summer tops, summer bottoms, winter tops, winter bottoms :)

Never leave things where they don't belong! Over time they'll accumulate and become something like 'that draw of stuff.'

I love making to-do lists to keep organized. However, I am a major procrastinator which I guess doesn't help my problem. A day-to-day planner to would be super useful to help me keep track of stuff. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteim really not organized, sorry! ahaha

Write it down, write it down, write it down. Takes away the stress of remembering and forgetting.... so long as you remember to check where you have written it down! Yes, I see the irony! (Nikki - mysewingcupboard{at}gmail{dot}com
ReplyDeleteI think the best way is writing everything down, having a weekly to-do plan and and also know priorities

Hi Lab Muffin! Thank you so much for the cool giveaway, it would be awesome to win!
ReplyDeleteMy tip would be... keep things simple! Have less clutter/stuff in your life to begin with and then it is far easier to organize! ...This applies to everything except nail polish. ;D
Otherwise, I am also a list maker. To-do list, grocery list, goal list... all good!
Rafflecopter should already have my E-mail listed on my entry information. Otherwise, here are two other places you can find me~

My best organizational tip is to write everything down! I can't remember a thing unless it is written down. I also like labels. Candicecroix@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI keep all my important papers from the running year in simple folders, which usually are just pieces of cardboard folded into two and taped from one side. I've got one for the house/mortgage, one for medical prescriptions, one for ads/brochures, one for contracts (phone, gym, internet), one for recipes, one for paid bills... The most important thing is that I keep the folders simple to use and in order, so there's no reason not to put the paper into the right folder straight away. This way I only store papers I figure I might need later, plus can really find the June credit card bill, or that train timetable in seconds!
ReplyDeleteYou can contact me at: talonted.blog@gmail.com.
Deleteok so i dymo everything!!! thats what you get having an autistic daughter and a OCD hubby!! label EVERYTHING!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI write things down in a kikkiK dairy if I can find it in the first place, haha.

AMAZING giveaway! I love organisation and so naturally I am a big list maker. Trouble is lists get lost etc... So... we have a mirror on the back of our front door in our apartment and I keep whiteboard markers in the kitchen so my lists get written on the mirror or on bathroom/kitchen tiles... Anywhere that's obvious for me to see (and rubs off), so if it's something I HAVE to remember before leaving the house it's right there staring me in the face :)
