Loki's Lacquer Swatches and Review

I've been a lacquerhead for a while now, but I've only recently gotten into indie polishes. Conveniently, there are some great indie polish makers in Australia, such as Emily de Molly and Gloss n Sparkle. Today I've got a couple of swatches from Loki's Lacquer, a line of indies produced by Tara, an Aussie blogger, whose super cute daughters also love polish! You can find them on Etsy here.

Purple Passion - black base with purple shimmer. From a distance it looks like an almost-black vampy creme, but when the sun hits it, the purple shimmer positively glows. I think the shimmer contains a few different purples to give the glowing effect. The formula is great - I layered this over a black base so I could use less (I ended up doing 2 layers), but it's pretty opaque anyway.

Under the Sea (note: this had just been reformulated as Blue Planet, wih a bunch more pretty glitters, including red and orange!) - argh, this three word phrase always puts the Disney song in my head! This is a shiny shiny mix of blue holo glitter and silver holo glitter dust (like obese spectraflair). I layered it over Essence Choose Me for this swatch:

And because I like fiddling with my combos, I tried a sideways gradient over the Purple Passion mani I had on:

Then I mattified it too:

Then I took it off, and it was a PitA, because I didn't have the foresight to use PVA base. D'oh! I had it on for 3 days without chips, which was pretty impressive given that I used Seche Vite over each polish.

And here is the point where I tell you that, because of AusPost's restrictions, you can only get these if you're Aussie. At the moment, Loki's Lacquers only come in mini bottles, but she's been talking about full sized polishes. Which is great, because there's a Loki's Lacquer I haven't posted yet that's one of my favourite polishes right now... but you'll have to wait til I post it next week on Polish or Perish to find out! (Although I must say, I'm dreadfully predictable so you can probably work out which one it'll be...)

Loki's Lacquers can be purchased here for $5 AUD, not including shipping.

UPDATE: Tara now has added full sized polishes to the store! :)

  4. The sideways gradient mattified is my favourite! :)

  5. These are so pretty! I can't wait till they ship internationally. The glossy sideways gradient is my favourite, but the mattified version looks pretty unique =)
